Before & After the Service

CUSTOMER INFORMATION AND SAFETY

Exit Pest Ltd provides environmentally responsible ways to service your property. We use products & procedures that meet current regulations & we keep the use of chemicals to a minimum.

To ensure the safety of our customers & to ensure you get the maximum benefit from our treatments,  please read the following & make sure the recommendations are fully understood.

01.
SPRAYING TREATMENTS (FLIES, SPIDERS, COCKROACHES, MOSQUITOES, SILVERFISH, ETC)

Before the spraying treatment:

We recommend the following;

  • Put all exposed food products away into the pantry or similar.
  • Cover cots or infants beds with an old sheet, and cover or put away children’s toys and other sensitive items.
  • Ensure all pets are outside the areas being treated and cannot get back in for a minimum of three hours, after the treatment has been completed.
  • Put away pet food and pet bowls used for feeding.
  • Ensure fish tanks and aquariums are removed or adequately covered and turn off pumps.
  • Inform family/staff members not to re-enter building before the time specified.
  • Advise Exit Pest of occupants that are chemical sensitive, asthmatics or other medical conditions you may think relevant.
  • If you are treating for Spiders, Bush Cockroaches or Ants, any major cleaning (house washing/ use of solvent cleaners etc) should be done before our service. This helps the effectiveness of the treatment as you are not disturbing or washing away our sprays or baits.

After the spraying treatment:

  • Do not enter the premises for at least three hours after the treatment unless otherwise advised by Exit Pest staff.
  • Upon returning, ventilate the treated areas for 15 minutes by opening windows and doors.
  • Wipe down all food preparation and sensitive surfaces, but do not wash, vacuum of clean the controlling agent off other areas. Doing this will affect the success of the treatment.

Fleas and other Carpet Pests. As above with the addition of:

Before the spraying treatment ‘declutter’ the floors by removing small items off the ground to expose as much as the flooring as possible, then vacuum thoroughly. Leave the vacuum cleaner out for treatment.

After the spraying treatment do not vacuum or clean the floors for 3-4 weeks to enable the eradication of the eggs and larvae.
02.
RODENTICIDE BAITING TREATMENTS (RATS & MICE)
  • Inform staff and family that they must not tamper with the bait or bait-stations as the bait may be harmful if accidentally swallowed, although the non-target single dose toxicity is low.
  • Ensure that your dog cannot access the areas where the baits have been placed. Exit Pest Ltd takes all care but no responsibility in the event of pest poisoning.
  • If you suspect your pet has been poisoned please inform a veterinarian what your pet has ingested. An antidote (usually Vitamin K injection) may be required.
  • Baits are non-irritating to skin. Inhalation or contact of small amounts of bait dust is not likely to be hazardous.
03.
GEL BAIT TREATMENTS (COCKROACHES & ANTS)
  • Gel baits are placed into discreet areas and it is unlikely that humans will ever come into contact with them, therefore no action is required. Most active ingredients in the bait formulations are low in mammalian toxicity and in such low quantities that they are not harmful to humans.
  • It is essential that no insecticides or repellants (sprays, dusts and granules) be applied around the baited areas before or after the treatment (this will contaminate the gel or deter the Cockroaches and Ants from feeding on the baits or in the targeted areas).
04.
INSECTICIDE POWDER TREATMENTS (WASPS & BEES)
  • Insecticide powder is applied with pressure to the nest entrances. Avoid the nest area for 12 hours after treatment as Wasps or Bees may become aggressive. Because of the slow acting nature of the powder, it may be up to a week before there is a total eradication.
  • For Bee swarms and Bumble Bee nests, removal and re-location by Exit Pest or a Bee Keeper is preferable if possible. If this is not possible insecticide is used for rapid knockdown.
05.
WOOD BORER (BORA) TREATMENTS
  • The latest Borer treatment techniques use water-based wettable powders (no longer requiring the use of solvent and kerosene based products). Therefore vacating the premises for several days after the treatment is no longer necessary and you can usually be in the house whilst the building is being treated. However, do not enter the treated areas (roof-void or sub-floor) for 24 hours after the treatment has been completed.
  • Macro-misting or thermal-fogging: Where there is no access to the sub-floor or the insulation cannot be removed this process is used to control Borer “on the wing”, and eggs and larvae on the surface on the timber. With this process people and pets must vacate the premises for 3 hours and on returning ventilate the house by opening windows and doors.
  • Injection treatments generally only require a 3 hour stand-down period in the immediate area being treated. The slight solvent odour from the aerosol dissipates within a few minutes.
06.
ANT TREATMENTS (Non-Repellant Sprays)
  • It should be noted  that Ant nest eradication using this method is a slow process and may take a month to be effective. For those customers looking for longer term control this is the recommended method as we are aiming to eradicate the colonies rather than just using a “chemical band-aid” to kill the workers.
  • You can usually stay in the property while it is being treated so few special precautions are necessary.
  • Report Fishponds, Beehives & Pets before treatment.
  • Do not use fly sprays or traditional insecticides around the Ants/sprayed areas (it negatively effects the process of taking our products back for nest eradication).
  • Avoid external house washing, landscaping, house painting & spraying weed killers and other chemicals shortly before & for as long as possible after the Ant treatment.

BEFORE CONCLUDING IF OUR TREATMENT WAS SUCCESSFUL OR NOT, PLEASE ALLOW ONE MONTH FROM THE DATE OF SERVICE.

WE CANNOT GIVE A DEFINITE TIME PERIOD FOR THE CONTROL OF PESTS. EVERY  ERADICATION AND MONITORING TOOL HAS IT’S LIMITATIONS AND LONG TERM SUCCESS IS OFTEN DEPENDENT UPON THE MANY DIFFERENT INTERACTING ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS AND OTHER PREVAILING CONDITIONS. WE RECOMMEND THE SERVICING OF YOUR PREMISES ON ON A REGULAR BASIS.
